State of the Union 总统向国会发表的年度报告，中文大都译为“国情咨文”。
美国政府的施政纲领，主要阐明美国总统每年面临的国内外情况，以及政府将要采取的政策措施。按照美国惯例，每年年初，现任总统都要在国会做年度报告，阐述政府的施政方针。
2016年1月这场咨文，有一点告别演说的韵味，总结了过去7年多来执政业绩——执政遗产，也谈到了执政感想。演讲一开始，他说道，选举年已至，但仍打算继续努力取得进展。通篇内政居多，外交甚少。例如，教育、医疗、公平教育、带薪休假、孩童免于枪患等重要议题。
以下双语全文Mr. Speaker, Mr. Vice President, Members of Congress, my fellow Americans:
议长先生、副总统先生、各位国会议员和美国同胞们：
Tonight marks the eighth year I ve come here to report on the State of the Union. And for this final one, I m going to try to make it shorter. I know some of you are antsy to get back to Iowa.
